【藝術中心_視覺藝術展覽 09/05-11/26】幾何共舞‧第一樂章─劉孝謙皮件創作展 Dancing with Geometry‧First Movement – Creative Leather Artworks Exhibition by Xiao-Qian LIU

 

 

熱愛雕塑、電影和音樂的數學老師劉孝謙，1982年開始學習皮件創作，他沉浸於藝術創作世界，從皮件的圖樣設計、造型、染色，到打版、手縫，皆親力親為完成作品。劉老師以「皮革為畫布、皮包做畫框」的概念，創作出各式獨特造型、承載不同染繪紋彩的皮包。

2017年，劉孝謙將30餘年的創作心血全數捐贈予中原大學做為典藏，並舉辦「玩皮人生‧序曲」展覽，展出以皮雕為主的作品；本次以「幾何共舞‧第一樂章」為主題，揀選30餘件以幾何為核心概念的作品展出，劉老師自數學、建築等汲取靈感，透過立方體、圓形、弧形等不同造型，搭配以手染、潑彩等方式所繪製的圖樣，使作品有獨特的趣味與藝術表現。

劉老師源源不絕的創意仍帶領他持續創作，對藝術家來說，皮包，是可以提上街的藝術，它不僅是日常中的實用物件，更是一件件獨一無二的藝術品。

 

 

A mathematics teacher with a passion for sculpture, movies and music, Xiao-Qian Liu began learning basic skills in leather creations and immersing himself in the world of art. From the drawing design, style to hand sewing leather, Xiao-Qian finishes every piece of work with his own hands. He uses leather as the canvas and leather bags as the frame, engraving and dyeing leather to give bags a new, unique look.

In 2017, Xiao-Qian donated all of his works he put his heart and soul into over the past 3 decades to CYCU and curated the Roaming with Leather‧Overture exhibiting his leather sculptures. Dancing with Geometry‧First Movement is a collection of 30 leather art in geometric forms and shapes. Inspired by  mathematics and architecture, Xiao-Qian uses cubic, circular and curvy shapes and techniques such as hand-dyeing and splashing to create fun and unique works of art.

Xiao-Qian’s art is fueled by his endless creativity. To artist, leather bags are walking pieces of art you carry with you; they are not just accessories you can use every day, but also extraordinary one-of-a-kind art.
