山路－黃銘頡創作個展

對藝術家而言，繪畫如同一座山，唯一要攀爬的理由，只有為了看見山頂的美麗風景。當初滿懷理想走上繪畫這條路，才發現崎嶇、難熬，也感受到寂寞與空虛。但藝術家仔細地收集這些時間，然後將其沉積、結晶成了一件件作品。黃銘頡就像是名旅者，繪畫對他來說，是一個救贖。

黃銘頡將作品對於他的意義，歸納成三階段：探索、思考、與詰問，從最初的探索、模仿與突破，因而創作了大部份的靜物畫；接著開始思考如何才走得遠、及藝術家與繪畫本身的關係是什麼？在此階段他理解到「空間」是一切的基礎堆積，因此創作多幅切割過、如同方格狀的風景畫；第三階段藝術家對自己詰問，進而追求藝術的本質，一步步地前進，雖是前進，但藝術家仍持續思考，藝術創作的路途絕非直線的，一定有足以影響其後的重要轉折，而展覽如同在藝術旅途中的重要停頓，藝術家希望每次的停頓都足以成為引領他走上山巔的重要指標。

Mountain Road－Solo Exhibition by Ming-Chieh HUANG

To the artist, painting is like a mountain; the only reason to climb it is to witness the beautiful scenery at its peak. Initially filled with ideals, embarking on the path of painting, Ming-Chieh HUANG discovered the hardships, struggles and the loneliness that comes with it. However, he carefully collected these experiences and transformed them into works of art, one after another. Ming-Chieh, like a seasoned traveler, finds salvation in painting.

Ming-Chieh summarizes the meaning his works have on him into three stages: exploration, contemplation and questioning. Starting with exploration, imitation and breakthrough, he created mostly still-life paintings. Then, he began to contemplate how to progress further and what the relationship between himself and the painting is. In this stage, he understands that “space” is the foundation of everything and creates several landscape paintings cut into grids. The third stage sees him questioning himself, delving deeper into the essence of art and advancing step by step. Although he continues to move forward, the road of artistic creation is not a straight line. There will always be important turning points that could impact the future. The exhibition is like an essential pause in Ming-Chieh’s artistic journey. He hopes that each stop, each pause can become an important indicator that leads and directs him to the summit of the mountain.
