詩書畫雕塑‧五絕─ 陳秋山藝術創作首展

 

傳統建築彩繪藝師陳秋山，本名陳炎興，屏東潮州人，年少時曾向台南畫師潘春源與日治時期有台展三少年美譽的林玉山教授學習彩畫。陳秋山尤其擅長於傳統彩繪中融入詩文與書法，享有「詩書畫三絕」的美名。其彩繪風格融合水墨畫的思維，形成獨特又細膩的彩繪風格。一般傳統建築壁畫以描繪忠孝節氣的故事為題材，而他把現今時事與當代人物融入彩繪中，形成獨樹一格的彩繪特色。

除了傳統彩繪外，早年為了生計，陳秋山亦從事塑像與浮雕泥塑等工作，曾為岡山空軍官校製作空軍健兒浮雕，也曾為教會製作耶穌塑像，以及佛光山淨土洞窟等雕塑作品，具備「詩書畫雕塑」五項技藝，誠屬不易。

本展覽為陳秋山首次個人詩書畫雕塑之創作展，包括彩繪手稿、東洋紙本藝術創作、書法詩詞及水墨畫作品等，冀盼能讓更多人認識這位投身傳統建築藝術逾70年的藝術家。

 

Master of Poetry, Calligraphy, Painting and Sculpture – First Exhibition of Traditional Architectural Painter Qiu-Shan CHEN

 

Traditional architectural painter Qiu-Shan CHEN from Chaozhou, Pingtung (whose real name is Yan-XingCHEN) learned painting from Chun-Yuan PAN, a painter in Tainan, and Professor Yu-Shan LIN, one of the Three Youngsters in Taiwan Fine Arts Exhibition during the Japan colonial era when he was young. Skilled in incorporating calligraphy and poetry into traditional painting, CHEN is known as the “Master of the Three Wonders: Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting.” He has developed a distinct and delicate artistic style that combines the concept of ink painting. The murals in temples generally depict stories of filial piety and seasonal festivals. CHEN, on the other hand, introduces current events and contemporary figures into temple murals, creating a unique painting style.

In addition to traditional painting, CHEN also engaged in clay relief sculptured art. He once made a relief sculpture of the airmen of the Republic of China Air Force Academy, the statue of Jesus for churches and sculptures for the Pure Land Cave of Fo Guang Shan. With skills in poetry, calligraphy, painting and sculpture, CHEN is truly a multi-talented, once-in-a-lifetime artist.

Master of Poetry, Calligraphy, Painting and Sculptureis Qiu-Shan CHEN’s first exhibition that honors his art collections, including  sketches, Japanese paper art creations and calligraphy and ink painting works, in hopes of introducing this painter who has been dedicated to traditional architectural art for over 70 years to more people.
