傳統竹編工藝永續教學與扎根推廣師生成果展

竹編已有悠久的歷史，在五千年前的新石器時代，先民就以竹編作生活、生產工具。早期台灣的竹編工藝自日常生活所需的器物開始，如：畚箕、魚筌及竹蓆等，清代自福建、廣東等地輸入精緻的竹工藝品，也提升了本地的竹編技術；日治時期，開辦「竹山郡竹材工藝傳習所」落實有制度的竹編技術教學並拓展竹藝品外銷，至此竹編由實用的生活器具，逐漸演進到具生活美學及裝飾性的花器、果盤等物品，製作技術也更為精緻。

竹編具有多樣化的編法及多變的造型，展現出有別於一般工藝品的自然韻味。近年竹編作品也受到大眾的喜愛。本次「傳統竹編工藝永續教學與扎根推廣師生成果展」邀請三位傳統竹編工藝技術保存者：涂素英、黃啟祥、劉興澤（依姓名筆劃排序），以及兩位工藝師：謝佳珍、蘇素任（依姓名筆劃排序），展出歷年代表作品，另有參加文化部文化資產局「傳統竹編工藝永續教學與扎根推廣」推廣傳習計畫之學生作品，藉此讓教學之技術保存者與受其指導之學生能夠共同展出，推廣傳統竹編工藝之美。

Sustaining and Nurturing Traditional Bamboo Craft Exhibition

The history of bamboo craft dates back to the Neolithic period 5,000 years ago. Bambooware also played a major part in Taiwanese culture back in the days, where bamboo was made into tools for daily use and practical purposes, such as dustpans, fish traps and bamboo mats. Bamboo art from the Qing Dynasty also improved bamboo handicraft skills in Taiwan. During the Japanese colonial period, Zhushan Prefecture Bamboo Craft Education Center focused on the teaching of bamboo weaving skills and promotion of bamboo crafts worldwide. This elevated bamboo craft from a practical tool to objects with aesthetic value (e.g., decorative accessories, vases and fruit baskets).

There are a variety of weaving techniques and patterns. Bamboo craft adds a natural touch to any space, making this traditional art a popular alternative to contemporary designs. Sustaining and Nurturing Traditional Bamboo Craft Exhibition exhibits traditional bamboo crafts by preservers of bamboo craftsmanship Su-Ying TU, Chi-Hsiang HUANG, Sin-Zer LIOU and artisans Chia-Chen HSIEH and Su-Jen SU to preserve the heritage of weaving. The exhibition also features the works of student participants of the Sustaining and Nurturing Traditional Bamboo Craft Program created by the Bureau of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture. By honoring the artworks of both preservers (teachers) and their pupils, this exhibition seeks to promote the beauty of this traditional form of art.
