山生水藏，擇地而居─柯燕美個展

 

藝術家柯燕美的創作持續關注自然：2012年於高雄市立美術館發表「自然日誌」展覽，探討人類需向自然學習，減少造成天然災害。2014、2015、2018年的作品持續關注在地生活議題：地表水與生物，由於地表水具有豐富的生態多樣性，是地球上生產力最豐沛的生態系統，提供給人類能源及經濟利益等，以此議題發表創作。

2020年提出「山生水藏，擇地而居」的變易之道，欲傳達任何事物永遠都在變動之中，萬物各有合宜的處所，而不盡相同。因環境中的每一個子系統都是相互聯繫、相互制約、相互依存、相互對立、相互轉化的因子。人們的居住地理環境內往往蘊藏於宇宙的一動一靜變化之中；藝術家以作品呼籲觀者理解萬物生存居住和環境的直接關係，提醒我們尊重、愛護自然生態環境。

 

Choosing to Live – Solo Exhibition by Yen-Mei KE

 

Yen-Mei KE’s exhibition “Journal of Nature,” which opened at the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts in 2012, presents the idea that humans must learn from nature in order to prevent natural disasters from happening. Her works in 2014, 2015 and 2018 continue to demonstrate her concern about local lives. Boasting biodiversity, surface water is said to be the most productive ecosystem on earth. It also inspires humans to explore relevant topics, such as energy and economic benefits.

In 2020, KE proposed that “every life opts for a habitat that is designed for them, whether it is in the mountains or in the water.” Life is constantly changing, and all lives inhabit places that are suitable for them. Environmental subsystems correlate and coexist with one another. They also contradict or transform each other. Places in which humans live often contain every single change happening in the universe. KE encourages us to understand the relationship between lives and the environment, while reminding us to respect and protect the natural ecosystem.
