人生如畫，以畫致變—陳永康上將國畫邀請展

陳永康上將承襲家風庭訓，自幼喜愛藝文、繪畫，師從馬白水教授學習水彩。弱冠之年即投身海軍，秉持「從容乎疆場之上，沉潛於仁義之中」之初心，縱覽古今中外典籍，融合前人智慧與現世國情，活用於各項公務。服務軍中四十餘載，並以藝術融合於軍事職場，國際環境、政情演變、海域山川、萬物現象等，都成為他的創作元素與靈感來源。

本次「人生如畫，以畫致變」邀請畫作四十餘幅，主題以山水與動物為主，部分作品以國畫結合西式筆法表現，有淡有濃、有繁茂、燦爛、明亮及情緒表徵，亦不時有沉重、古樸、厚實之風格。他將薑黃、抹茶、普洱、高粱入墨，形成觀賞之後，留有只暈不醉之美感。上將自軍職退休後，多次受邀至國外訪問及發表演說，亦以個人創作做為見面禮，深受詠嘆。作品反映了上將的筆墨心得、心路歷程及對個人藝術創作的期許，在多元的表現技法與風格中，亦掌握了主題的靜態與動態之美。

Life is Like a Painting - Solo Exhibition by Yeong-Kang CHEN

Admiral Yeong-Kang CHEN has shown an interest for art and culture from a young age and learned water painting from postwar and contemporary artist Ma Paisui. At sixteen, Yeong-Kang joined the navy. During his forty years of service to his country in the navy, he adopted the late Dr. Sun Yat-Sen’s ideology “take ease on the battlefield and submerge in kindness and justice” and studied ancient and modern literacy classics of the East and the West. He brought ancestral wisdom and knowledge on modern national situations to practice use and used the international environment, political evolution, mountains, seas and nature as his artistic inspirations.

Life is Like a Paintingpresents over 40 works of art by Yeong-Kang CHEN. A fusion of the East and West, his collection features natural landscapes and animals, using bold contrasts between light and heavy and complex and simple and turmeric, matcha, pu’er and kaoliang as paint. Following his retirement from the military, the former admiral gave several interviews and speeches abroad where he would gift people with his art. Yeong-Kang’s diverse artistic expression and styles reflect his life story, artistic journey and expectations in art while perfectly demonstrating the beauty of static and dynamic composition.
