玩皮人生‧序曲─劉孝謙皮件創作展

劉孝謙，1955年生，一位熱愛雕塑、電影和音樂的數學老師。1982年因為偶然看到一場皮雕展覽，跟著老師學會了基本功，接著天馬行空玩得無法歇手。從圖樣設計、造型，到打版、手縫，無不親力親為完成獨特作品。在「文創」還沒被大家喊出來的時候他已經在路上。

他的作品兼具功能性與藝術性，「以皮革為畫布，以皮包做畫框」，他以各式獨特的造型，承載雕刻或獨自研發的皮革染繪紋彩，為皮包形塑新貌。「玩皮人生‧序曲─劉孝謙皮件創作展」，展出他最初的皮雕時期創作，他以雕刻刀描述多樣的生活記趣，取材自由而寬闊，遠超乎一般的皮雕想像。

源於對中原大學推動藝術教育的認同，與本校同齡的藝術家劉孝謙特別選在62週年校慶的此時，將多年創作心血全部捐贈予中原大學做為典藏，為自己的作品找到最美的歸宿，豐富本校藝術典藏與研究資源，未來他將傳授自己的創作心得分享校園學子。藝術中心特別為此策畫「玩皮人生‧序曲─劉孝謙皮件創作展」，作為典藏作品之展出「序曲」，開啟全人藝術緣份，譜出皮件悠揚樂章。

 

Playing with Leather – Creative Leather Goods Exhibition by Xiao-Qian Liu

Xiao-Qian Liu, born in 1955, is a mathematics teacher with a passion for sculpture, movies and music. In 1982, after attending a leather craft show, he started to learn basic skills from a teacher and his imagination began to run wild. From the drawing design, style to hand sewing leather, Xiao-Qian finishes every piece of work with his own hands. Before “cultural and creative” began trending in Taiwan, Xiao-Qian was already on the path.

Xiao-Qian’s works are not only artistic, but also functional. He uses leather as the canvas and leather bags as the frame, carving and dyeing leather to give bags a new look. Playing with Leather – Creative Leather Goods Exhibition by Xiao-Qian Liu features a splendid collection of the artist’s early works, which depict the many faces of life created with his unrestrained style.

Also 62-years old, Xiao-Qian chose to donate all his works to CYCU on the school’s 62^nd anniversary, giving them a beautiful new home and enriching the artistic resources on campus. In the future, he will share his creative experience with students. The CYCU Art Center especially organized this exhibition as a prelude to the beginning of CYCU’s journey of art.
